“Liberty” ships were a class of cargo ship built in the United States during World War II, and fairly famously built in South Portland ship yards from 1941 to 1945. These mass-produced ships were known for their simple, low-cost construction, but also for being reliable work horses. Not fancy, but rather intended to get an important job done during a time of intense need.
Maine native and principal of Liberty Ship Technology Group, Tom Vose, always admired the history of the Liberty Ships, and Maine boat building tradition. When he decided to gather a group of technology experts together and collectively start a technology consulting firm building on shared expertise, he thought of the analogy between those reliable ships and a business that would offer considerable value at an affordable cost with a workhorse mentality. Liberty Ship Technology Group was formed in January of 2018 to offer business clients dependable, committed IT services.
